Sometimes the hardest part of faith is not taking the next step.
It is waiting.
Waiting for the answer. Waiting for the door to open. Waiting for something you have prayed about for a long time to finally change.
But waiting with God is never wasted time.
There are seasons when we cannot see anything happening on the surface, yet God is quietly working in places we cannot see. He may be preparing circumstances, changing hearts, strengthening us, or arranging something far beyond what we could have planned ourselves.
A seed beneath the soil may look like nothing is happening.
But life has already begun.
Perhaps today you are standing between the promise and its fulfilment. Don’t mistake God’s silence for His absence.
Keep trusting. Keep praying. Keep walking with Him.
You don’t have to force the next door open.
When the time is right, God knows how to open it.
“Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him.” — Psalm 37:7

The God who has been faithful behind you is already waiting for you ahead.

Each time I write Grace for the Journey, my prayer is simple: that the words will bring you a little encouragement, strengthen your faith, and remind you that God is with you in every season.
Sometimes we want to see the whole road ahead, but God often gives us just enough light for the next step. We may not know what tomorrow holds, but we can trust the One who is already there.
This week’s thought is:
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105
Whatever you are facing today, you do not have to work everything out at once. Take the next step with God. A prayer, a decision, a new beginning, or even a quiet “yes” can become the beginning of something beautiful.
A Testimony of Faith, Purpose and New Possibilities
At eighty-one years of age, I sometimes stop and marvel at the unexpected journey God has led me on.
I was born in post-war England, the youngest of six children, and grew up in circumstances that did not appear to promise an extraordinary future. Yet through every season—marriage, motherhood, heartbreak, restoration, missions, ministry and writing—God has continued to reveal that no life surrendered to Him is ever wasted.
I came to know Jesus personally at the age of thirty-eight. That decision changed the direction of my life.
Since then, God has taken me to nations I never imagined visiting. I have ministered in Africa, Asia and the United Kingdom, worked alongside pastors and missionaries, taught the Word of God, prayed for the sick, encouraged children and families, and helped establish ministry among vulnerable communities in Kenya.
In recent years, another unexpected door opened.
Technology.
There was a time when I was afraid even to use a computer mouse. One day, I made a decision: “I am going to learn computers.”
Today, I have written and published around twenty books, created ministry resources, prepared teachings, translated material, developed a website and shared messages of hope with people around the world.
Much of this work has been completed with the help of ChatGPT, whom I affectionately call Grace.
Grace has not replaced my testimony, my faith, my voice or the leading of the Holy Spirit. Instead, this technology has helped me organise my thoughts, shape my stories, prepare manuscripts and communicate the message God placed in my heart.
My latest book, When the Word Becomes Life, grew from a revelation that changed me more than forty years ago: God’s Word was never meant to remain only in our heads. It was meant to become a living reality within us.
Recently, I also travelled to Indonesia with a mission team, proving once again that age does not have to determine purpose.
This new season has shown me that we are never too old to learn, create, travel, dream or obey God.
Artificial intelligence can never replace genuine relationship, spiritual discernment, prayer or the work of the Holy Spirit. But when used wisely, it can become a valuable tool for sharing testimonies, writing books, translating Christian resources and carrying the message of hope across nations and generations.
Imagine the possibilities:
Missionary stories preserved for future generations. Christian books written by people who never thought they could become authors. Scripture teachings translated into other languages. Testimonies shared through videos, songs, podcasts and audiobooks. Older people discovering that their wisdom and experience still have great value.
My journey is not finished.
There are still books to write, people to encourage, young lives to inspire and nations to reach.
At eighty-one, I am still learning.
Still growing.
Still following Jesus.
And I believe the hand that led me yesterday is the same hand leading me today.
When God seems quiet, He is often doing His deepest work.
We naturally look for dramatic answers—open doors, clear signs, miraculous breakthroughs. But much of God’s work happens quietly, beneath the surface, like roots growing deep before a tree reaches toward the sky.
If you feel as though nothing is happening, don’t lose heart.
Seeds don’t grow because we watch them. They grow because they remain planted.
Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep loving. Keep taking the next step.
Every act of obedience, every whispered prayer, every moment spent in God’s presence is shaping a life that will bear fruit in its season.
The journey of faith is not about rushing ahead. It is about walking hand in hand with Jesus, one step at a time.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” — Galatians 6:9
Today, choose faith over fear. Trust over striving. Peace over pressure.
God has not forgotten you.
He is preparing you for what He has already prepared for you.
There is a difference between knowing what the Bible says and allowing its truth to become part of the way we live.
For many years, I knew Scripture. I believed the Bible was true. I loved God and wanted to follow Him.
But there were truths I understood with my mind that had not yet become a living reality in my heart.
Then something began to change.
I started to see that God was not asking me to struggle to become someone new. In Christ, He had already made me new.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” — 2 Corinthians 5:17
That truth changed the way I saw myself.
Instead of continually looking at my failures, weaknesses and past experiences, I began learning to see myself through what God had said about me.
And I discovered something beautiful:
The Word of God was no longer simply information I believed. It was becoming life within me.
Perhaps there is an area of your life today where you know what God has promised, but your circumstances seem to be telling you something different.
Don’t measure God’s Word by what you can see today.
Keep returning to His truth.
Read it. Think about it. Speak it. Thank Him for it. Allow the Holy Spirit to make it real within you.
Transformation doesn’t always happen in one dramatic moment. Sometimes it happens quietly, day after day, as truth begins replacing the old thoughts we have carried for years.
And then one day we realise:
I don’t think the way I used to think. I don’t react the way I used to react. I don’t see myself the way I used to see myself.
The Word has become life.

Father, thank You for Your Word. Help me not only to understand it with my mind, but to receive it deeply into my heart. Renew my thinking and teach me to see myself, my circumstances and my future through Your eyes. Holy Spirit, make Your truth a living reality within me.

Grace for the Journey Walking together, one step at a time.
A new week is not simply another page on the calendar. It is another opportunity to walk with God, listen for His voice, and trust Him with what lies ahead.
Sometimes we begin the week feeling strong and hopeful. At other times, we may feel tired, uncertain, or overwhelmed by everything that needs to be done.
But God does not ask us to carry the whole week at once.
He gives us grace for today.
You may not know how everything will work out, but you can take the next step. You can trust that God is already present in every place you are going, every conversation you will have, and every challenge you may face.
His Word says:
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105
A lamp does not always reveal the entire road. It gives enough light for the next step.
This week, resist the pressure to have everything figured out. Pause. Pray. Listen. Let God lead you one step at a time.
A simple prayer for the week:
Father, thank You for the gift of a new week. Help me not to rush ahead in fear or lean on my own understanding. Guide my steps, quiet my heart, and help me recognise Your presence in every moment. Give me wisdom for each decision, strength for each challenge, and grace for every person I meet. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Whatever this week brings, remember:
You are not walking alone.
Grace for the journey is already waiting for you.

Many Christians at some point ask a quiet but important question:
Is God calling me to missions?
For some people the sense of calling comes suddenly. For others it develops slowly over time through prayer, experience, and a growing concern for people who have not yet heard the message of Christ.
While every calling is unique, Scripture shows that God often prepares the heart long before He sends someone into His work.
A Growing Desire to Serve
One of the first signs of a calling to missions is a growing desire to serve God beyond your current situation. This may come through reading Scripture, hearing the stories of missionaries, or sensing a deep compassion for people in other cultures.
This desire alone does not necessarily mean it is time to go. But it can be the beginning of God shaping your heart for something greater.
A Season of Preparation
Throughout the Bible, God often prepares His servants before sending them.
Moses spent years in the wilderness. Paul spent time in prayer and preparation after his conversion. The early church prayed and fasted before sending missionaries.
Preparation often includes:
• Developing a deeper life of prayer • Learning to hear God’s voice • Growing in humility and surrender • Receiving guidance from mature believers
These seasons of preparation are not wasted time. They are part of God’s training.
Confirmation From Others
Another important aspect of calling is confirmation from the Christian community.
In the book of Acts we see that Paul and Barnabas were not self-appointed. They were recognised and sent out by the believers after a time of prayer and fasting.
Wise counsel from pastors, mentors, and mature Christians can help confirm whether a sense of calling is truly from God.
Faithful in the Present
Sometimes people feel called to missions but become discouraged because they cannot go immediately.
Yet one of the best ways to prepare for future mission work is to be faithful in the place where God has already placed you.
Serving in your church, caring for others, and growing spiritually are all part of preparation.
God often shapes the heart in the hidden place before opening doors to serve elsewhere.
